FRANK SESNO

Frank Sesno is vice president and bureau chief of CNN's Washington, DC bureau, supervising the network's largest bureau with approximately 350 employees covering events in the nation's capital. He is also the host of CNN's Sunday talk show, Late Edition with Frank Sesno, airing from 5 - 6 p.m. (ET) and anchors Inside Politics Extra, CNN's daily morning political update airing weekdays at 10 a.m. In addition, he works on special reporting projects for the network.

In 1994, Sesno was appointed executive editor of CNN's Washington bureau, overseeing a major reorganization of the news division in Washington. He directed the bureau's coverage of the 104th Congress, Million Man March and several other major news events.

Sesno has reported and anchored some of recent history's most significant stories, including the Oklahoma City bombing, the 50th anniversary of D-Day, the 1994 Los Angeles earthquake and President Clinton's 1994 Russian visit. Sesno has covered national political conventions, international peace talks and presidential summit meetings. He has interviewed such world leaders as Presidents Bill Clinton and George Bush, Egyptian President Hosini Mubarak, England's Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, Czech President Vaclav Havel and Jordan's King Hussein. Prior to his promotion to anchor in March 1991, Sesno was a White House correspondent for six years.

Sesno has contributed to several critically acclaimed CNN series. In 1992, his segment for the CNN "Democracy in America" series looked at the challenges facing the United States in the global marketplace. "Promises, Promises," which also aired in 1992, examined the candidates' positions on the economy and the U.S.s ability to compete globally. Sesno joined CNN in 1984 from Associated Press Radio, where he was a national correspondent. He received a B.A. from Middlebury College.
