Co-Hosts of Crossfire

John Sununu and Robert Novak alternate co-hosting the right side of the issues on Crossfire, CNN's popular political debate program. Government officials, political candidates, scholars and social activists have appeared on the program to take part in a dialogue that focuses on the day's top news story. Sununu fills the chair on the right, alternating with Robert Novak. Crossfire airs live from Washington weeknights from 7:30 - 8 p.m. (ET). Sununu joined Crossfire in 1992 and Novak became a permanent co-host in 1995, replacing Pat Buchanan who left to campaign for the Republican nomination of president. And from the left, since Michael Kinlseys departure, recent guest hosts have included Geraldine Ferraro, Juan Williams, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and Bob Beckel.

Sununu is also president of JHS Associates, Ltd. and a partner in Trinity International Partners, a private financial firm. He was commissioned chief of staff on January 21, 1989, and served in the Bush White House until March 1, 1992. He also served as counselor to President Bush. He was a three-term governor of New Hampshire, served as national co-chairman of the 1988 Bush/Quayle presidential campaign and was a dean at Tufts University.

Novak, a nationally syndicated columnist, is also the host of CNN's half-hour interview program Evans & Novak, a panelist on CNN's The Capital Gang and a political analyst on CNNs Inside Politics. In 1963, he teamed with Rowland Evans to write "Inside Report," a political column based on hard reporting and a fast-moving deadline. It is syndicated by Creators Syndicate to over 150 newspapers. The Chicago Sun-Times has been the home newspaper to the column since 1966. On May 15, 1993, Evans retired from the column and now writes only occassionally. It is currently syndicated three times a week. Evans and Novak write a bi-weekly newsletter, "The Evans- Novak Political Report."
