Stuart Rothenberg is a CNN political analyst. He appears regularly on Inside Politics, which airs weekdays from 4 - 4:30 p.m. and 8:30 - 9 p.m. and Inside Politics Extra airing weekdays at 10 a.m. (ET). He is also editor and publisher of The Rothenberg Political Report, a Washington D.C.-based political newsletter that reports on House, Senate and gubernatorial elections, presidential politics and political trends.
Rothenberg is also a columnist for Roll Call, a Capitol Hill newspaper, and he has written articles and op-eds for the Wall Street Journal, The Baltimore Sun, Newsday, State Legislatures, Nation's Business and The American Enterprise. A frequent radio and television analyst, he has appeared on John McLaughlin's One-on-One, The Today Show, The MacNeil-Lehrer NewsHour as well as dozens of other programs. Rothenberg served as an on-camera and off-camera election night analyst for CNN in 1992 (from Washington) and in 1994 (from Atlanta), and he was C-SPAN's Election Night guest for the November 1993 elections. He also served as CBS Radio's analyst for the 1995 State of the Union.
Rothenberg was an assistant professor of political science at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA, and is currently an adjunct assistant professor in the department of politics at The Catholic University of America. He holds a B.A. from Colby College (Waterville, ME) and a Ph. D. in political science from the University of Connecticut. He was born in New York City.
