Viveca Novak is a Washington correspondent for TIME. She joined the magazine in October 1995 from the Wall Street Journal where she covered the Justice Department and such issues as affirmative action, antitrust and crime.

In her new position, Novak will report on "money politics," Congress, and the Justice Department. Before joining the Wall Street Journal, she covered tax and budget issues for the National Journal, and previously wrote about lobbying and campaign finance for Common Cause Magazine.

Novak is a native of Washington, D.C., and holds a B.A. in foreign relations from the University of Virginia and a Masters in journalism from Columbia. She also completed a fellowship in law for journalists at Yale. She is married to Robert Lenhard, a lawyer for AFSCME.
