Dole Would Bring "Fundamental Change," His Wife Says

PHOENIX (AllPolitics, April 26) -- Elizabeth Dole told a $100-a-plate breakfast fundraiser today that her husband will bring "fundamental change" if elected president this fall.

Mrs. Dole said the election is "about the character of America...and the values that will carry us into the next century."

"It will be fundamental change if we take that White House and it won't take very long for that change to happen," she said.

Dole said her husband, as president, would push for a simpler, flatter income tax. "He will make sure you can do it on a postcard without the need for a lawyer or accountant or both," Mrs. Dole said.

Dole also would eliminate the Department of Education and its bureaucrats "running all of our schools in America by remote control from Washington," his wife said.
