Clinton Maintains Lead In Latest PollWASHINGTON (AllPolitics, July 29) -- President Bill Clinton continues to hold a double-digit lead over Republican rival Robert Dole in the race for the White House, according to a new CNN/USA Today/Gallup Poll.
When asked to choose between Clinton, Dole and possible Reform Party candidate Ross Perot, 50 percent of registered voters picked Clinton, compared to 35 percent for Dole and 10 percent for Perot. The July 25-28 survey was based on interviews with 1,008 adults, including 844 registered voters. The margin of sampling error for the presidential preference results was +/- 4 percentage points. The latest figures were virtually unchanged from the results of a CNN/USA Today/Gallup survey a week ago. That survey showed 50 percent for Clinton, 33 percent for Dole and 12 percent for Perot. Clinton's approval rating, which stands at 58 percent, also has remained steady. Only registered voters were asked who they would support for president, while all 1,008 people in the sample were asked whether they approved of Clinton's performance as president. Related Story:
