GROSSE POINTE FARMS, Mich. (AllPolitics, Oct. 31) -- Remember Morry Taylor, the sports car-driving GOP candidate for president? He wanted to give workers at his Illinois tire plant the day off to vote, but the Federal Election Commission said he couldn't, because it would be an illegal incentive. RICHMOND (AllPolitics, Oct. 31) -- Bob Dole can't take Virginia for granted anymore. A new poll shows the Dole-Clinton race is too close to call there, with 45 percent of likely voters supporting the GOP ticket and 42 percent in favor of President Bill Clinton. Five percent favored Ross Perot. The Mason-Dixon Political Media Research Inc. survey talked with 806 Virginia voters and has a margin of error of +/- 3.5 percentage points. In California, though, Clinton maintains a 52-34 percent lead over his rival in the latest Field Institute Poll. Perot has 6 percent.

"I think that the better answer is to say, well, what part of the liberal agenda does Senator Dole want to repeal? Does he want to reject Social Security or civil rights or the women's movement or the environment?"
