Perot Unloads On Clinton, Again

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (AllPolitics, Nov. 4) -- In another scathing attack on President Bill Clinton, Reform Party candidate Ross Perot told an audience of college students today that Clinton faces "serious criminal charges" and because of that is not qualified to be a babysitter, a house painter or a clerk, let alone president.

"So I would urge you not to vote for a candidate that runs up and down the sidelines, saying is it legal and illegal, and if it is illegal, what smooth things do I say to cover up and guff when I get caught?" Perot said.

"Isn't it incredible that we have someone like that who may be...re-elected as your president?" Perot asked.

Perot repeated his earlier claim that the nation is headed "for a second Watergate, a constitutional crisis" if Clinton is re-elected.

The Texas businessman bought an hour of time tonight on ABC for a final, pre-election "infomercial," his preferred method of campaigning, as well as a half-hour biography rerun. He also bought 30-minute spots on CBS and NBC. The blocks cost a total of about $2 million.

Perot offered to share the time with Clinton to discuss the accusations against the president. But the Clinton campaign refused, saying it would stick with its own events -- not Perot's -- in the campaign's final days.

In the spots, Perot repeated his harsh attack on the Clinton White House, and showed video clips and pictures of Clinton and Democratic party associates under fire for fund-raising tactics.

Perot also ran full-page ads in 100 national newspaper markets, urging voters to "Watch Perot Tonight, Vote Perot Tomorrow."
