Judge Allows Delay In McDougal SentencingWASHINGTON (CNN, Nov. 13) -- U.S. District Judge George Howard has granted a three-month delay in the sentencing of former Clinton Whitewater partner Jim McDougal, at the request of Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr. The new sentencing date is February 24th.
McDougal, one of three defendants found guilty in the first Whitewater trial, has been cooperating with the independent counsel's investigators, providing them with information for their probe which is first and foremost aimed at the activities of the president and the first lady. Sources say McDougal's primary debriefing has concluded but that there is much follow-up information to gather. Susan McDougal, his former wife and a co-defendant, is in jail serving a contempt sentence for refusing to testify before a grand jury. She was also sentenced to two years for her conviction in the case. Related Stories:
