Bill Clinton The Cartoonist
ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE (AllPolitics, Sept. 11) -- President Bill Clinton enjoyed -- and created -- a few laughs at his own expense Tuesday, when cartoonist Mike Luckovich, who was flying with the president, suggested that he draw a self-caricature. The result: a portrait with two thought balloons: "Hey, Mike, Now I feel my pain. I'm not good at this" and "How did I ever get into this? Maybe Luckovich should be president," with the initials "GDP" (for gross domestic product) and a downward arrow. Clinton regarded his artwork with a critical eye. "Typical politician," he said. "Say one thing and think another."
