October 9, 1995
- Palo Verde, Arizona: Four cars plunged off a trestle in a remote desert area, killing at least one and injuring 65 others. Early evidence suggested the tracks had been tampered with.

October 3, 1995
- Milford, Connecticut: The train smashed into a flatbed truck at a crossing, derailing two passenger cars and injuring 22 people.

Metra Burlington Northern
September 23, 1995
- Chicago, Illinois: The Metra train hit a bumping post at Chicago's Union Station, injuring 15 passengers.

Silver Star
September 22, 1995
- near Indiantown, Florida: The train rammed a semi-trailer at a rural crossing, killing the train engineer and injuring five people.

Lake Shore Limited
August 3,1994
- Batavia, New York: Nine passenger cars derailed, injuring as many as 125 of the 320 people on board.

Burlington Northern
August 3, 1994
- Douglas, Wyoming: Five people died when their car collided with a freight train at a crossing.

Silver Meteor
June 7, 1994
- Comstock, Michigan: A truck slid into the path of an Amtrak train, derailing three cars. The truck driver died, 14 train passengers were injured.

May 16, 1994
- Smithfield, North Carolina. One person died and 97 were injured when a train carrying 441 passengers and crew struck a flatbed trailer truck that was being carried by a freight train on an adjacent track.

Pioneer
March 3, 1994
- Platteville, Connecticut: The train derailed after it struck a water truck on the tracks. Only minor injuries were reported among the 160 passengers on board.

Broadway Limited
December 21, 1993
- Gary Indiana: One person was killed and 39 were injured when a train with 190 people on board hit a tractor trailer at a crossing. The driver was killed.

November 30, 1993
- Intercession City, Florida: Sixty-three people were injured when the train derailed as it struck a multi-ton electric turbine stalled on the track. No one had told the railroad that the special move was taking place.

November 21, 1993
- near Boise, Idaho: Sixteen people were injured when the train's engines and front cars derailed as the train hit a curve. There were 230 people aboard.

Sunset Limited September 22, 1993 - near Mobile, Alabama: Forty-seven people were killed, and $300 million in damage and liability claims were made after a tug boat hit a trestle and weakened its structure, plunging the train into a river.

- Opa-locka, Florida: Five people were injured after the engine flipped on its side and the first three cars jumped the tracks. Debris on the tracks was to blame.

- Fort Lauderdale, Florida: A truck driver and five motorists were killed and 15 people were injured when the train collided with a gasoline tanker at a crossing. The train was found to be going twice the speed limit.

- Stevensville, Michigan: Seven people were injured when the four coaches of the train derailed and the engine overturned. A split in the rail was to blame..

December 18, 1992 - Moorpark, California: Three people died when their stalled van was struck by a train at an unguarded crossing.

- Davis, California: A five car passenger train derailed after hitting an empty car sitting on the tracks.

August 23, 1992
- Wallingford, Connecticut: Three people were killed when a train struck their car.

Colonial
August 12, 1992
- Newport News, Virginia: Vandalism was blamed for the derailment which injured 70 people. A rail switch was broken into and set the wrong way.

April 29, 1992 - Newport News, Virginia: One person was killed and 57 were injured when a train hit a dump truck whose driver failed to yield.

June 4, 1992
- June 4, 1992 -- Poplarville, Mississippi: Ten people were injured when the train derailed after striking a garbage truck.

July 31, 1991 - Camden, South Carolina: Eight people died in a train crash blamed on lax track maintenance and inspections.

January 4, 1987 - Chase, Maryland: Three Conrail locomotives collided with an Amtrak passenger train, killing 16 people and injuring 176.
