JERUSALEM (CNN) - Israeli police have detained two religious Jews who allegedly desecrated the grave of slain Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin on Wednesday.
A police spokesman said that one of the men spat on Rabin's grave and the other attempted to urinate on the grave. The two men are in their early twenties and are students at a religious seminary. They were arrested overnight.
A Jewish militant, Yigal Amir, confessed to assassinating Rabin November 4 to stunt the peace accord agreement of handing over land for Palestinian self-rule. Although Amir said that he acted alone police say that several religious Jews conspired to kill the prime minister as well as plotted attacks against Palestinians.
According to a Palestinian security official, police in Gaza arrested five men linked to the Abu Nidal militant group. The men had planned to assassinate PLO Chairman Yasser Arafat.
