SINGAPORE (CNN) -- A British man astounded city shoppers here
by really using his head.
John Evans, 51, amazed the crowds Saturday when he clean
lifted an 130-kilogram car shell from a forklift truck and
balanced the vehicle on his head. He also stabilized people
and even washing machines on his cranium.
Evans has won the Guinness World Record 16 times for
balancing objects on his head.
The former bricklayer, who lives in London with his wife and
two children, said he started trying to lift heavy objects
eight years ago. Since then, his neck has thickened to a
55.8 cm (22 inch) circumference.
Two years later, he turned his hobby into a full-time career
and began to travel the world performing. Among the strangest
things he has balanced are a portable toilet and a telephone
box. He has even lifted a 126.8 kg sumo wrestler.
The heaviest record he broke was when he balanced 101 bricks
weighing 208.3 kg on his head last December.
He is trying to set another world record by balancing 400
Coca-Cola cans on his head by the end of his nine-day stint
of performances in Singapore.
